Nancy Ewing
I am a painter. A painter of
people, places, life and ideas. But, more than the others, of
people. Because even when people don't appear in my work, I am
thinking about and planning to paint, people.
Consequently, one could describe my work as modern genre painting--depicting the events of peoples' lives.
Recently, I have added some landscape painting to my portfolio, in the 2008 exhibit "Journey".
I look to artists like Rembrandt, Edgar Degas, John Singer Sargent,
AliceNeal, William Merritt Chase, and Richard Diebenkorn for
inspiration.
Diebenkorn for technique and composition, Chase and Sargent for
composition and point of view, Neal for psychological insight,
Rembrandt and Degas for all of the above.
